Katie (Kruse) Frerking was born in Hannibal, MO in 1992. She was born with a genetic disorder, PKU, causing her body not to break down protein, so she is a vegetarian not by choice. She is the 5th child of 6. She attended Zion Lutheran School in Palmyra, MO until it closed in 2004. Her family then moved to Concordia to keep her and her younger brother in a Lutheran School. She then attended St. Paul's Lutheran School from 6-8 grade meeting her now husband, Tyler Frerking, in Mrs. Hinck's class. In 2011, she graduated from St. Paul Lutheran High School and went on to the University of Central Missouri for a year and a half before transferring to Concordia University, Seward, NE. She graduated with a B.S. in elementary education in December of 2014 and accepted her first call to teach 3-4 grade at Our Redeemer Lutheran School in North Platte, NE. In 2016, she accepted a call as close to home as possible, teaching 3rd grade at Messiah Lutheran School, Independence, MO and got married to her husband who teaches 6th grade ELA in Marshall, MO. She is currently working on a M.S. in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in classroom management. In her free time she loves to spend it with her family and pets. She is a dog lover and enjoys being outdoors.
